BALTORO/K-2 BASE CAMP/CONCORDIA TREK

This outstanding trek to K-2 combines the classic approach walk along the Baltoro Glacier to Concordia with ample time to ascend the Godwin Austin Glacier to the K-2 Base Camp. It is far and away the most popular trek in Pakistan, attracting large number of trekking groups as well as numerous climbing expeditions.

After assembling our team of porters and crew we cross the snout of the Biafo Glacier before ascending the exposed trails above the swirling waters of the Bradlu River. This is wilderness trekking at its finest, with huge rock faces including Trango Towers providing a spectacular backdrop.

Reaching the conjunction of the Godwin Austin Glacier, which descends from K-2 and Baltoro Glacier called “CONCORDIA 4700m”, lying in the heart of the most heavily glaciated region out side the Polar area and densest concentration of peaks on earth. You will appreciate the sheer scale of Golden Throne, Gasherbrum IV, Broad Peak, Chogolisa, Mitre Peak and K-2 (8611 meters), the second highest mountain in the world, an unrivalled concentration of peaks that define the inner Karakorum.

From our base at Concordia, which is apex of this trek, one can undertake an exhilarating excursion up the Godwin Austin Glacier to the K-2 Base Camp (5135 meters). This enables to view the classic climbing routes on K-2 and appreciate why it is one of the hardest 8000 meters peaks to climb.

BALTORO-GONDOGORO LA (5700M) TREK)

In 1986, a trekking route was established that connects the Baltoro Glacier to Hushe Valley over a Pass called GONDOGORO LA 5700M. Since than, this challenging Pass has attracting large number of the trekking groups as well as numerous climbing expeditions. However, the popularity of this trek is also and accurate reflection of its attractions. This is along the BRALDU River then into Baltoro Glacier is a long and extremely demanding one. This route follows mainly on the Baltoro Glacier, which is 65km long . The climax of the  Baltoro Glacier is the beautiful conjunction of the Godwin Austin Glacier, which descends from K-2 and Baltoro Glacier called “CONCORDIA  4700M” lying in the heart of the most heavily glaciered region outside the Polar area and densest concentration of peaks on earth.

CONCORDIA is the apex of  this trek and viewpoint of several peaks. If you would like to go to the Base Camp of Mount K-2, to pay homage the climbers who have given their lives to climb the K-2 and left their signs of names on the cemetery, is called K-2 Memorial Cemetery. It is reccommended to make the excursion from Concordia. The K-2 South West face is more visible from here, which is only once climbed . The panoramic view of K-2 from the Concordia is like Mount Everest from Kala Patar.

The reward as the other hand is spectacular, taking you right into the heart of Karakuram mountains at Concordia to K-2 Base Camp then on Vigne Glacier to the foot of Gondogoro Pass. After the crossing there is High Camp then to the Dalzampa , a beautiflul place for camp with water and meadows, then on Gondoghoro Glacier to the Satchio and finally to the Hushe Valley.

Weather and group fitness permitting, we will cross the snow bound heights of the Gondoghoro Pass. This is very exciting trek from Concordia to cross the Pass then to Hushe Valley is one of our finest high altitude  and challenging treks. On the top of the Pass , it offers beautiful view of the K-2 (8611 m), Broad Peak (8048m), Choglisa (7660m), upper Baltoro region, Laila Peak (6200m),  Bassu Peak, Manzil Peak etc. Mostly all above 7000 m high peaks of Shigar and Hushe Valley.
