Naltar – Ishkoman Trek:

Day-01 Arrival to Islamabad airport and transfer to hotel, sightseeing in Islamabad and Rawalpindi
Day-02 Drive to Gilgit (14-15 hrs) on the amazing Karakuram Highway, which never gives feeling of repeated travel experienced. The landscape changes almost every kilometer as road goes up and down along Indus River and short stop at Chilas to see the inscriptions also at the point where three great mountain ranges meet, the Karakuram, the Himalayas and the Hindu-Kush.
Day-03

Gilgit to Naltar:

                    Jeep drives to Naltar Valley, there is a Jeepable road that winds its way to the top of the Gilgit Valley. We arrive at Naltar situated at an elevation of 10000 feet and 33 miles away from Gilgit. The thickly forested spot reveals a charm not captured by the other neighboring regions and conceals a skiing resort used by the Pakistan Army. We will lunch among the trees and with a few of the inhabitants before wandering around this heaven for a final time. Overnight at camps

Day-04  

Naltar to Naltar Lake:

Trek to Naltar Lake about 12 km and takes four hour if you walk all the way or one hour by jeep. We recommend walking through the thick pine forest. Nine kilometers from Naltar the trek crosses the Naltar River on a new jeep bridge. Across the bridge is Bangla a summer settlement of Gujar nomads. From Bangla to Naltar Lake you pass through more forest and see more Gujar settlements. The first lake is a startlingly green pond about 200 meters in diameter, surrounded by birch, ash and pine trees. The water is still and clears its color rising from bright green algae on the bottom, the best campsite is beside this lake a plan bridge leads out to a tiny island from which the fishing is said to be excellent. Overnight in camps

Day-05 

Trek Naltar Lake to Shani:

Trek through pine forest to meadow camp at Shani. After fifteen minutes north of Naltar Lake, cross the river on a long bridge and follow the east-bank. From the top of the next rise, you can look back and see the one of the higher lake descend to a large swampy field with herds of cattle and horses. Keep to the east of the river crossing pastures then a stony area rimmed by a few birch trees. This is on the green flank of the mountain, about 300 meters above the glacier across which are outstanding view to Shani Peak 5887 m.

Day-06

Shani to Trang:

Trek over the Naltar Pass and descends to camp at Trang. A strenuous days trek over Naltar Pass (4200m) to Trang. Left after crossing the Naltar Pass and walk for an hour on rock and snow to the Hayal Pass. Walk down for 90 minutes on moraine to a pasture with a clear stream./camp.

Day-07

Trang to Pakhora:

Descend into the Ishkoman valley easy trekking to the Village of Pakhora. The path is high above the river first through pastureland then through thick forest leading in one hour to the first summer settlement of wooden huts, below which you cross the river on a good bridge. Continue through pine and birch woods past another settlement of solid stone huts and across another good bridge back to the left bank then we reach the Pakhora which is small with a couple of shops but not hotel. The people are friendly.

Day-08  

Pakhora to Bhorta:

Ascend from the Valley floor with a climb to Bhorta, meals and overnight in the camps.

Day-09

Bhorta to Gigi:

Ascend Asumbar pass 4545 m and trek down to Gigi/camp

Day-10

Gigi to Sandhi:

Trek to Hindu-Kush. Follow a ridge along that has good mountain views of the Hindu Raj range. Camp at Sandhi which is seven kilometers north of Yasin. Public jeeps leave Sandhi every morning for Yasin, Gupis and Gilgit. There is a bridge across the Yasin River half way between Sandhi and Yasin town, from which a jeep road runs north up the Yasin River through Barkulti to Darkot.

Day-11 Sandhi: Full day free
Day-12

Sandhi to Hunder:

After breakfast walk by the Yasin River and up into the Yasin Valley to Valley Hunder, which overlooks Darkhut Glacier. En-route we shall come across small habitants. We will have time to mix up with the villagers and listen to their tales and stories/camp.

Day-13

Hunder Darkhut:

This day we shall trek along the lonely mountain meadows to Darkhut. Along the way we shall see hot springs with the magical healing powers./camp.

Day-14

Darkhut to Malloget:

After ascending to the top of the Punji pass on can have a magnificent view of the entire Hindu-Kush range. This is the futherest point in this area that foreigner are allowed to visit. Descend to Malloget, overnight at camps.

Day-15

Malloget to Handis:

Trek from Malloget to Handis a long day with four to five hours of trekking before stopping for lunch then trek again for three to four hours. This hike is gradual and we will be rewarded by the springs on the way. Camp at the summer Pasture Village of HANDIS.

Day-16

Handis to Ishkomen:

Trek to Ishkomen/camp

Day-17

Ishkomen to Gilgit:

 Jeep drives to Gilgit/hotel

Day-18

Gilgit to Chilas:

In the morning sightseeing in Gilgit, visit to Bazaar and Kargah Buddha, which dates back to the 7th to 8th century and showing marked similarities to Tibetan carvings found in Baltistan. This large image of standing Buddha is found on a cliff face of rock at Kargah. After having the lunch drive three hours to Chilas. Chilas was on the ancient caravan till over the Babusar Pass into India and on the Indus travelers in this area left trail of Besham and many rock engravings. Chilas is standing under the shadow of world famous mount Nanga Parbat 8125m. Overnight at hotel.

Day-19

Chilas to Islamabad:

Drive to Islamabad 11-12 hours

Day-20

Islamabad:

Full day free in Islamabad/Rawalpindi or full day excursion to Taxila, Taxila is one of the sub-continent's archaeological treasure, was once an important city of the Kingdom of the Gandhara.  Sir John Morshall began excavating in 1993. The history of Taxila is about 1000 years, it is simplest perhaps to think of the city's development as being influenced first by the history of the Iranian plateau and second by succession of invaders from central Asia.

Day-21 Transfer to the air port for the flight.
